Meherabad (Ahmednagar): So many theories have been advanced on the manifestation of Meher Baba and all these are based on what Meher Baba had said at various times. The basic theme running through these theories is that Avatar of the Age has not yet manifested and that it will take place in due course, probably over the next fifty-sixty years.

But eminent scholar and writer Anna Khandale, Anna to his friends, doesn’t agree with the general perception. He has, in fact, put a new spin on the issue while fielding my question ‘when will Meher Baba manifest’. In his view, Meher Baba’s manifestation is not a one-off affair.

Dear Friends,

As Amartithi approaches, again the Trust plans to broadcast main
events of the Meherabad gathering through the internet. From the
comfort of your homes or offices all around the world, you can tune in
to the events at Meherabad, where the forty-third anniversary of the
immortal date when Avatar Meher Baba dropped His physical form will be
commemorated at His Tomb-Shrine on Meherabad Hill.

Like last year, most of the 2012 webcast will be handled by a team of
Baba lovers from Hyderabad, working in concert with the home team here
at the Trust and various pilgrims who will take part in various ways.
As most of you know, over the three days from 30th January through 1st
February, Baba’s lovers from all over India and throughout the world
come in the tens of thousands to pay their respects to the One who
lives in our hearts eternally. Baba’s Samadhi, of course, is the real
center of the Amartithi gathering; and what happens between each lover
and Him in the moment of darshan there is known only within the
intimacies of love. But what the camera can show are events on the
stage, in a program that runs continuously through the greater part of
the 48 hours, and various scenes and happenings elsewhere on the
Meherabad estate.

The centerpiece of our coverage, of course, is the live broadcast. But
in addition, from time to time we put up video clips and photos.
Officially the coverage begins at 2 p.m. on the 30th; but in past
years photos and videos began to appear online starting the 28th, when
about a thousand volunteers arrive at Meherabad and start to take up

Since Amartithi commemorates Avatar Meher Baba’s dropping His physical
body at 12:15 p.m., 31st January 1969, the culminating moment of
Amartithi is, naturally, the fifteen-minute silence starting at twelve
noon on Amartithi day; during the greater three-hour period running
from about 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the program reaches its climax.
Noon in Ahmednagar corresponds to: 7:30 p.m. (31st January) in

Bhau Kalchuri – My dearest Aloba, your message touched my heart. You are Aloba, after all! And you have proved you are Aloba. Aloba was Irani, but nobody knew this.

His name was Ali Akbar Shapurzaman. but during the period of the New Life in India and Pakistan, Muslims were not allowed to take water from the wells that Hindus used..

Nikki & Aloba – Okay.

Bhau Kalchuri – They had to wait, just like a beggar, until someone would give them water.

So Baba changed the names of his Muslim Mandali. Ali Akbar Shapurzaman became “Aloba,” and secondly, Dr. Ghani, who was also in the New Life, became “Ghanoba.” These names are Hindu names, Ghanoba and Aloba.

After the New Life, Ghanoba went back to his doctorate, “Dr. Ghani.”

But Aloba said, “No. This name I will not change!”

He even changed the name on his passport to Aloba.

Once, when he went to Iran to see his sister. He was at least permitted to live there with her, but the Irani government was always suspicious of him.

He would not give free lectures on Meher Baba; he could not even say, “Meher Baba.” Not approved! The police were always after him.

If anything happened to him, and he got in trouble, he would say, “My real name is Ali Akbar Shapurzaman. But Aloba is the name is given to me by Meher Baba, and I don’t want to change it. I like this name.”

Bhau loves hearing/seeing his dear ones from all over the world via Skype, and only recently has it dawned on the Chat Team that our SKYPE instructions have been causing enormous confusion. The source of confusion is because we have using been using “Skype” and “Skyping” to indicate two entirely different Skype features.

A) Skype Video/Phone calls
B) Skype Text IM (Instant Message)

Dear ones should never use the Skype Video/Phone call feature to call the Trust Office. These calls confuse the Team and disrupt the flow of the Chat. And the Skype Text (Instant Message) channel should be used ONLY to indicate that you are available for the chat.

But if you are at your computer, will be there for the duration of the Chat, and would like to Skype Bhau, please use the Skype Text IM (Instant Message) feature (NOT the Video/Phone call feature) to send the following message or something similar:

“I am at my computer and will be here until Bhau’s Chat ends. I would like to have a Skype Video/Phone call with Bhau.”

As soon as Bhau is available, the Bhau Team will Skype Video/Phone call you to prepare you for your Skype with Bhau.

There are three volume controls that Skypers need to be aware of.

The three volume controls are:

1. THE MASTER COMPUTER VOLUME CONTROL.

This is usually indicated by a small gray icon in the lower right hand corner of your computer. This controls both the Webcast Volume and the Skype volume.

It must NOT be muted when Skyping Bhau.

2. THE WEBCAST VOLUME CONTROL

On Windows Media Player, this icon is a speaker with sound semi-circular sound waves coming out it. When muted, there will be a red circle with a slash over the sound waves.

This MUST BE muted when Skyping Bhau.

If you are listening to the Webcast on a different media players, the instructions would be similar.

3. THE SKYPE VOLUME CONTROL

The icon a speaker with a soundwave to the right of the microphone volume. This icon is ONLY visible when a Skype call is in progress.

As always, please do NOT send private messages to Bhau during the chat. They are very confusing to the typist and throw the sequence of Bhau’s responses out of kilter.

ALSO PLEASE NOTE: The Bhauchat Skype is accessed ONLY during the Chats itself. Anything received on SKYPE outside of the Chat hours will NOT be responded to.”

Bhau loves hearing/seeing his dear ones from all over the world via Skype, and only recently has it dawned on the Chat Team that our SKYPE instructions have been causing enormous confusion. The source of confusion is because we have using been using “Skype” and “Skyping” to indicate two entirely different Skype features.

A) Skype Video/Phone calls
B) Skype Text IM (Instant Message)

Dear ones should never use the Skype Video/Phone call feature to call the Trust Office. These calls confuse the Team and disrupt the flow of the Chat. And the Skype Text (Instant Message) channel should be used ONLY to indicate that you are available for the chat.

But if you are at your computer, will be there for the duration of the Chat, and would like to Skype Bhau, please use the Skype Text IM (Instant Message) feature (NOT the Video/Phone call feature) to send the following message or something similar:

“I am at my computer and will be here until Bhau’s Chat ends. I would like to have a Skype Video/Phone call with Bhau.”

As soon as Bhau is available, the Bhau Team will Skype Video/Phone call you to prepare you for your Skype with Bhau.

As always, many thanks to Skypers for their courtesy in recognizing that so many people are longing to Skype Bhau and keeping the length of their Skype to a minimum.

Please note that the Text Chat and the Skype are completely independent. The person in charge of the Skype and is totally focused on it and does not monitor the Text Chat. They have no way of knowing if someone is Skypeable if they post an announcement on the Text Chat. Conversely, the person in charge of the Text Chat does not monitor the Skype Text IM (Instant Message).

So please do NOT mention that you are Skypeable on the Text Chat. Instead, send a SKYPE TEXT IM (Instant Message) [NOT on the Skype Video/Phone call feature] to the Bhauchat Skype address.

Someone will send you a Skype Text back noting that the Trust Office is aware that you are Skypeable.

Once you have notified that you are Skypeable, please remain online until the Bhau Team contacts you or the Chat ends. If you decide to leave the Chat, please notify the Team you are logging off. It disrupts the flow of the Chat terribly when Bhau is ready to chat in person with someone who has indicated that they are Skypeable, but when the Team tries to contact that person, they have logged off.

Also, if you have been fortunate enough to have a Skype with Bhau one week, please skip a week or two before signing up again to allow others their chance to see Bhau cyber face-to-face.

As there are only 10-12 slots available per Chat for Skypers, we are trying to figure out an equitable arrangement to minimize the number of people who have indicated they are Skypeable but are not Skyped before the Chat ends.

There are three volume controls that Skypers need to be aware of.

The following instructions are for Windows, but apply similarly to Macs.

Please note that Mute is indicated by a circle with a red slash through it.

The three volume controls are:

1. THE MASTER COMPUTER VOLUME CONTROL.

This is usually indicated by a small gray icon in the lower right hand corner of your computer. This controls both the Webcast Volume and the Skype volume.

It must NOT be muted when Skyping Bhau.

2. THE WEBCAST VOLUME CONTROL

On Windows Media Player, this icon is a speaker with sound semi-circular sound waves coming out it. When muted, there will be a red circle with a slash over the sound waves.

This MUST BE muted when Skyping Bhau.

If you are listening to the Webcast on a different media players, the instructions would be similar.

3. THE SKYPE VOLUME CONTROL

The icon a speaker with a soundwave to the right of the microphone volume. This icon is ONLY visible when a Skype call is in progress.

It must NOT be on mute.

Bhauji and his entire team went to Meherazad this morning.

As Mother B said, “The whole visit felt like a prayer.”

In afterthought, it felt like we were being supported by the angelic realm.

Bhau went into Mandali Hall, Baba’s room (where he sat in his night watch chair).

This was followed by sweet visits with Manu, Meherwan and Meheru. Then Bhau also individually greeted the small number of pilgrims who were visiting there.

Baba wishing, during this Sunday’s Chat also, Bhau will again be able to see and hear dear ones from all around the world, a contact and communication of remembrance that he enjoys immensely. Skyping Instructions are below.

Bhau loves hearing/seeing his dear ones from all over the world via Skype, and only recently has it dawned on the Chat Team that our SKYPE instructions have been causing enormous confusion. The source of confusion is because we have using been using “Skype” and “Skyping” to indicate two entirely different Skype features.

A) Skype Video/Phone calls
B) Skype Text IM (Instant Message)

Dear ones should never use the Skype Video/Phone call feature to call the Trust Office. These calls confuse the Team and disrupt the flow of the Chat. And the Skype Text (Instant Message) channel should be used ONLY to indicate that you are available for the chat.

But if you are at your computer, will be there for the duration of the Chat, and would like to Skype Bhau, please use the Skype Text IM (Instant Message) feature (NOT the Video/Phone call feature) to send the following message or something similar:

“I am at my computer and will be here until Bhau’s Chat ends. I would like to have a Skype Video/Phone call with Bhau.”

As soon as Bhau is available, the Bhau Team will Skype Video/Phone call you to prepare you for your Skype with Bhau.

Please note that the Text Chat and the Skype are completely independent. The person in charge of the Skype and is totally focused on it and does not monitor the Text Chat. They have no way of knowing if someone is Skypeable if they post an announcement on the Text Chat. Conversely, the person in charge of the Text Chat does not monitor the Skype Text IM (Instant Message).

So please do NOT mention that you are Skypeable on the Text Chat. Instead, send a SKYPE TEXT IM (Instant Message) [NOT on the Skype Video/Phone call feature] to the Bhauchat Skype address.

There are three volume controls that Skypers need to be aware of.

The following instructions are for Windows, but apply similarly to Macs.

Please note that Mute is indicated by a circle with a red slash through it.

The three volume controls are:

1. THE MASTER COMPUTER VOLUME CONTROL.

This is usually indicated by a small gray icon in the lower right hand corner of your computer. This controls both the Webcast Volume and the Skype volume.

It must NOT be muted when Skyping Bhau.

2. THE WEBCAST VOLUME CONTROL

On Windows Media Player, this icon is a speaker with sound semi-circular sound waves coming out it. When muted, there will be a red circle with a slash over the sound waves.

This MUST BE muted when Skyping Bhau.

If you are listening to the Webcast on a different media players, the instructions would be similar.

3. THE SKYPE VOLUME CONTROL

The icon a speaker with a soundwave to the right of the microphone volume. This icon is ONLY visible when a Skype call is in progress.

Each year at Meherana, on the first weekend of October, we celebrate the Anniversary of Avatar Meher Baba’s New Life. This year for the 62nd Anniversary we are pleased to invite you to attend a musical celebration with the Nordeen Family. Please bring your instruments and join us for the New Life Sahavas at the 289-acre site of the Meherana Center. Our special guests are:

Debbie Nordeen – Baba’s beautiful songbird, has lived most winters for the last three decades in India with her husband, Peter. At Meherabad and Meherazad, she directs choral arrangements for Baba’s and Mehera’s birthdays, as well as assisting in the new Meherabad Welcome and Information office. Debbie lives in Asheville, North Carolina, where she directs a community chorus called Womansong. She will share her music with us as well as engage Sahavas attendees in a group choral experience.

Peter Nordeen -Both a full-time and a part-time resident of Meherabad since the mid-70′s, Peter is fortunate to have lived and worked side by side with Baba’s mandali gleaning from them many poignant and colorful stories of life with the Master which he will share with us. Peter has studied Meher Baba’s life and teachings for over 40 years. He wrote and produced the biographical documentary, “God in Human Form – the life and work of Avatar Meher Baba.” Peter will be sharing stories of the New Life and Baba’s Advent with us.

Bruce and Jeanne Felknor – These two amazing musical Baba lovers met in Meherabad during Baba’s birthday play one year. It was perfect casting because two months later, they were married. Bruce’s velvet vocal tones narrated the film GOD IN HUMAN FORM and his rousing version of VICTORY UNTO THEE is unforgettable. Hearing of Baba almost 32 years ago in Munich, Germany, Bruce currently serves on the board of Meher Fund. Jeanne (Nordeen) heard about Baba as a child and has been singing her heart out to Him ever since. In Meherabad, she whips the theatre into shape for Baba’s Birthday Play. In Chicago, she creates gardens in the neglected city parkways, beautifying and bringing New Life to them. Bruce and Jeanne will be joining Debbie in concert and choral activities.

Sahavas activities: New Life Stories, Choral groups, Musical Concerts, a Discussion Group, Films of Meher Baba, hikes and walks, Artis at Baba’s Cabin, Dhuni (Saturday night), Bookstore, and Children’s Activities.

Although Bhau has not recuperated 100% from his bout with bronchitis, he was still well enough to attend last Sunday’s Chat (along with his wife, Rama, on the eve of her birthday!).

There are three volume controls that Skypers need to be aware of.

The following instructions are for Windows, but apply similarly to Macs.

Please note that Mute is indicated by a circle with a red slash through it.

The three volume controls are:

1. THE MASTER COMPUTER VOLUME CONTROL.

This is usually indicated by a small gray icon in the lower right hand corner of your computer. This controls both the Webcast Volume and the Skype volume.

It must NOT be muted when Skyping Bhau.

2. THE WEBCAST VOLUME CONTROL

On Windows Media Player, this icon is a speaker with sound semi-circular sound waves coming out it. When muted, there will be a red circle with a slash over the sound waves.

This MUST BE muted when Skyping Bhau.

If you are listening to the Webcast on a different media players, the instructions would be similar.

3. THE SKYPE VOLUME CONTROL

The icon a speaker with a soundwave to the right of the microphone volume. This icon is ONLY visible when a Skype call is in progress.

It must NOT be on mute.

RECORDING THE WEBCAST

Unfortunately, no further information is regarding the following procedures. Please contact your local geek for advice.

If you are using Windows Media Player and have Real Player installed, the webcast can often be recorded by right clicking on the Windows Media Player image and clicking on “Download this video.”

Here are the VLC menus I used to watch the webcast and record the video+audio:

1. Open VLC Media Player

2. Click on Media Open Network Stream…

3. Type or Copy/Paste

3. Click the down-arrow to the left of the Play button

4. Select Convert

5. For the profile, select “Video – H.264 + AAC (TS)”

6. Select a folder and name for the destination file, with a .TS extension

7. Check the box “Display the output” to watch the webcast while recording.

8. Click Start

RECORDING THE AUDIO

VLC MEDIA PLAYER

Audio only can be recorded by selecting the “Audio – AAC (MP4)” profile instead, using a .MP4 extension for the filename.

AUDACITY

The audio portion of the webcast can also be recorded by itself by using the Audacity program (use the WAVE function).

Jai Meher Baba!

Dear friends,

Bhauji continues to improve.

He is coughing less, and this evening, a cardiac check up showed his heart to be in better shape than it was eight months ago.

Bhauji remains very tired. He does not sleep well at night. Therefore, he often falls asleep during the day. To give him this chance to rest, please no visitors!

Baba willing, he should be discharged in a couple of days.
